Our approach

What our SEO audits cover

A long export of warnings is difficult to act on. We investigate the business context and the pages that matter, then distinguish issues that need engineering time from content decisions, measurement gaps and items that need no action.

Before starting, we agree the website scope, available access and who will use the findings. A marketing lead may need an investment case; an engineering team needs reproducible tickets and acceptance checks. The same raw crawl does not meet both needs.

Your SEO audit report and priorities

Each material recommendation should explain the evidence, likely impact, uncertainty, dependencies and an owner. Prioritisation considers your ability to deliver as well as the opportunity. We discuss a short list of decisions instead of presenting every warning as equally urgent.

SEO audit and implementation options

An audit can include a walkthrough and roadmap without including all development or copywriting. We make that boundary clear in the proposal. If your team implements the work, we can agree validation support rather than leave you interpreting a document alone.

Discuss your target markets

Bird works from London and Essex with businesses serving nearby customers, the wider UK and international markets. We agree which of those audiences matters to this brief before recommending pages or campaigns. Contact the team to confirm meeting arrangements and bring the website, business priorities and any relevant constraints to the discussion.

What an actionable finding looks like

FieldIllustrative example
ObservationTwo service pages answer the same buyer question and compete for internal links.
Evidence to collectSearch queries, page content, backlinks, conversions and internal linking.
DecisionDifferentiate useful intent; consolidate only where one page can serve the user better.
Dependency and ownerContent owner approves the destination; developer implements any redirect.
Acceptance checkRetained content is present, links point directly to the intended page and tracking still works.

This is a sample audit format, not a finding or promised result.

Barrington Freight

Website Design, SEO and Link Building for an International Freight Forwarder.

The project shows content consolidation being carried through into a rebuild. It is an implementation example, rather than a claim that this was a standalone audit engagement.

Published project examples describe their own scope and period. They are not forecasts for a different business.

Frequently asked questions

What will we receive from an SEO audit?

The agreed output is a prioritised assessment with evidence, affected URLs or page types and recommended next steps. We explain what is confirmed, what needs investigation and how a fix can be checked. The audit scope sets out the website areas and data sources covered.

Is an SEO audit the same as a crawler report?

A crawler supplies useful observations, but those observations need interpretation. We compare them with the website’s purpose, customer journeys and available search data. A long export of warnings is not a substitute for decisions and implementation priorities.

What access do you need for an audit?

Public checks can establish a starting point. Search Console, analytics, relevant platform access and information about recent changes can add context. We agree the access needed for the specific questions rather than requesting every system by default.

Can you audit a website before a redesign?

Yes. An audit can identify useful existing URLs, search requirements and risks to include in the redesign plan. Mapping, content ownership and launch checks should be agreed before old pages are removed or replaced.

Does the audit price include fixing the problems?

Only when implementation is explicitly included. We distinguish investigation, recommendations, development and verification in the proposal. Your team can use the findings directly, or we can discuss a separate implementation scope.

Can you investigate a traffic decline?

Yes. We compare the timing, affected pages and queries with technical, content and reporting changes. A decline alone does not prove an algorithmic penalty. Conclusions should follow the available evidence, with uncertainty recorded where necessary.

Share your website, the problem you want to solve and any constraints. We’ll discuss the fit, the evidence needed and a scope before work begins.
